| Abstract | Banking industry in Cambodia is still young. Cambodia has widely opened its banking market
since 1993. So far the banking industry in Cambodia has been only opened its market about 7
years. From the perspective financial analysts, the financial experience of all commercial
banks is not sufficient yet. So it will be interesting to explore the process of financial strategy
formulation and implementation by the banks.
The objective of this research is to undertake a case study of the financial planning and plan
implementation in a commercial bank based on intensive case study of Union Commercial
Bank Ltd. In the case, the sources and uses of funds were examined. The financial position
and financial performance of the bank also was evaluated. Further, the case consisted of the
review of working capital and capital position of the bank and finally, the evaluation of the
bank's management responses to the market environment.
The finding from the case analysis and discussion indicated that the financial strategy planned
by Union Commercial Bank Ltd. was responded to the market. By implementing the strategy
planned, UCB could generate positive result year after year. And it seem have a good
experience in this market. However, the UCB' s financial strategy could implement within a
limited business area, especially in the capital. It can not apply to all business areas in
Cambodia yet. |
