Abstract | A conventional RIC helicopter was selected to be the flying robot and it is manually controlled. It will enable all of applications to be accomplished with greatly reduced pilot workload if it can be automatically controlled by a computer. An agricultural application is the most likely application. Therefore modification of the RIC transmitter, which is used to control the motion of the robot, is necessary for this objective. The controlling signals inside the RIC transmitter were studied in order to utilize The MC68HC 11 microprocessor emulating these signals. The interfacing circuitry was built and the program was tested. The running results revealed surprisingly good. The control system for control of heading direction of a flying robot was then constructed. It is compose of the airborne electronic and ground station. A single axis rate gyroscope (for RIC model) is the only sensor mounted on the robot. The feedback signal was transmitted to the ground station via a 27 MHz (FM) transmitter. At ground station the feedback signal was processed and generated the controlling signals to control the heading of the robot by the MC68HC 11 microprocessor. |
