| Abstract | In modern manufacturing engineering CAD/CAM/CAE application is one main trend to improve product quality, increase productivity, decrease lead-time and increase competitive ability in market. Mould manufacturing engineering wants CAD/CAM/CAE too. The thesis showed a methodology of product development and plastic injection mould design with CAD/CAE. With a project study the thesis discussed and demonstrated the whole process in pi·oduct development and plastic injection mould design with CAD and CAE application. The study showed the CAD/CAE benefit such as CAD benefits: • Shorten design time • Easy to modify design based on previous drafting • Establish model with CAD for CAE and CAM and make CAE and CAM possible CAE benefits: providing a method to analyse plastic molten flow filling behaves before real mould manufacturing. It helps designer with quicker design and improves design quality. It showed the following hands. • Flow analysis to provide reference data or plot to help deciding mould gate location, mould construction, • Improving injection mould pati design, • Supplying reference moulding parameters. The project also gave some guides to improve qualities of injection parts and moulds. |
