AbstractDistraction osteogenesis is a surgical technique of gradual bone lengthening that is used for the coITection of skeletofacial growth discrepancies. Distraction osteogenesis is utilized for the correction and creating costume face. Distraction osteogenesis technique is humanity for the patient who has asymmetric mandible or maxillofacial sequela. This technique involves a circumferential corticotomy, osteotomy and placement of a distraction device. At present, the patient with these effects in the region and in developing countries has very low chance of using distraction osteogenesis technique because of very high cost of distraction osteogenesis surgery, and distraction device. So that the purpose of this research is design a new mandible uni-planar intra-oral distraction osteogenesis device and produce it locally with lower cost for wide application of DO technique in the region. The report describes the process of how a new mandible distraction device is designed and how a prototype of a new design is manufactured. This study provides an effective method of product design and development in the medical field.
