AbstractFive-axis machines are used for contouring complicated geometrical pa1i. Therefore, it is necessary that CNC programs be verified before real machining is carried out. Thus, the research focus on verify and simulating the volume removal using OpenGL. The machine part will be generated from the tool path in the CL-file. Implementation is based on the sweep plane algorithm. Blank and tool intersections are ·generated using the stencil buffer, functionality provided in OpenGL. Redisplaying the images is performed via texture mapping. New viewpoints can be quickly generated without re-computation. While redisplaying, the OpenGL effects, blending and depth buffer handles transparency and hidden surface removal.
