AbstractThis study is mainly focused on developing an SPC (statistical process control) program in Microsoft Excel, which works with WinCC, and developing a C program which compares the calculated statistics to the control limits and uses the results to control the PLC. WinCC is used as a platform to control the PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) system. The study can be divided into three parts: develop a WinCC User Interface and an SPC application program in Excel to do the operation on the data imported from WinCC project database, draw the control charts and display the control charts on the WinCC user interface and PLC control. ODBC is used to set up the connection between WinCC database and MS Excel. Sybase SQL Anywhere 5.0 is used as the SQL. NetDDE is used to dynamically exchange data between MS Excel and WinCC data manager. X-Bar and Sigma chait are used as the control chaits when the sample size of the subgroup is large. C program is used to set up the connections among WinCC, Excel and PLC. Conclusion and recommendations are given based on the results.
