| Abstract | Provision of a large variety of services is expected in the upcoming third generation
wireless systems. Users with very different and even time varying rate and quality of service
(QoS)) requirements will need to be accommodated. So the different services will require
different bandwidth. It is found that in multibandwith environment the services having low
data rate performs poorer. It is because in the multibandwidth environment the interference
from other bandwidth users increases at the chip rate i.e. higher the chip rate lower the
interference.
As it is already proved that the data rate up to 2 Mbit/s can be easily transmitted at the
chip rate 4.096 Mchips/s at bandwidth of 5 MHz. In this thesis work, it is tried to study the
performance of different data rates up to 256 kbit/s at the chip rate 4.096 Mchips/s using
Multicode and Single Code transmission. If these schemes are used to transmit different data
rates, the requirement of different bandwidths for transmission of different data rates are not
necessary.
Based on the simulation results, it is shown that performance of low data rate and
medium data rate is improved using Single Code and Multicode transmission scheme. Thus
these schemes overcome the poor performance and requirement of high bandwidth in multi
chip rate scheme. Multicode and Single Code are better transmission schemes to serve
different data rate when a fixed chip rate is required and fixed bandwidth is allocated. All
data rates behave similar in Multicode transmission in one path fading channel. Performance
difference of different data rates in Multicode in multipath fading channel could be from the
behavior of channelization code in multipath environment. |
