AbstractAlthough, the building construction companies are higher rate in Myanmar, the bridge construction companies are lower rate in Myanmar. In tendering process, the competitors of the bridges mostly have two-three companies in this process. Consequently, the bridge construction projects are the highest risks in other construction industry. In Myanmar, the bridge construction industry is underdeveloped in technology and hence many problems related with technology are faced in many projects. Next, all the projects are owned by government and need to develop in order to become the developed construction industry. Considering that, this study has been carried out to identify the problems related with activities in bridge construction. The problems are mainly related with first grade activities like site improvement, foundation, substructure and superstructure. Then, the critical risks related with activities are investigated according to rating risks assessment. Besides, the supercritical risks are investigated according to schedule analysis of risks in terms of critical path method diagram. The key activities of construction method and risks connections are studies from the literature survey. A conceptual framework was developed connecting identified problems related with activities and it was validated through three experts. The risk assessment analysis of the qualitative method analysis was used as the method of analyzing interview data. The steps of the construction activities are namely foundation like bored pile foundation and pile cap, substructures like pier head, shaft, superstructures like girders and slab in concrete bridge construction. Second, the construction methods like cast in situ, precast and posttensioning or pretension of the construction. Third, the problems in activities related with construction method. Finally, the researcher analyzed these problems with risk assessments to investigate the critical risks according to rating criteria. In order to investigate the supercritical risks, the critical risks are compared with CPM network diagram. Accordingly, the activities exist on the critical path of the schedule and the critical risks related with these activities become supercritical. In fact, these risks are happened in these activities so the whole project timeline can be impact exactly.
