Abstract | Wheat is a most broadly grown staple food crop in the Pakistan, it is important to examine the effects of climate change on wheat in Faisalabad district of Punjab, Pakistan by mean of DSSAT v 4.7. The observed weather data, management practice data and soil data collected for study area. The future climatic data from three RCMs namely ACCESS, RCA4 and RegCM4.4 downloaded and bias corrected by Linear Bias Correction Method. The average annual rainfall, maximum and minimum temperature is expected to increase under both RCPs. DSSAT v 4.7 calibrated and evaluated for wheat variety FSD- 08. The calibrated model used to simulate future wheat yield. Future wheat yield expected to reduce for all RCMs as related to baseline. The sowing date change, fertilizer application change and irrigation water change are major adaptation strategies. These adaptation options put in DSSAT v 4.7 so that impact on yield can be seen. Shifting in planting date 15 days late in place of current sowing date is effective. The simulated wheat yield gives good response by increasing the number of irrigations instead of increasing the amount of water. The 10 to 20% increase in nitrogen will be beneficial in far futures |
