AbstractThe concept of public participation has become a part of state governance and development planning. In the context of urban environmental management, this concept is included to reach sustainable environmental management of a city. This research examines the effectiveness of environmental management project to participation level in Bandung City, Indonesia. The participative management in the city derived through project initiated by Local Government Unit (LGU), partnership of LGU and foreign-funded and foreign fund driven project. The study provides form of participation between three project types, its approach and activities, and the connection of project intervention to outcomes result. Thus, it seeks contribution factor of initiated projects to participation level in urban environmental management within Bandung City. The study found participative approach of foreign-fund driven project has not always influenced to level of participation. The founding shows traditional approach of patron-client relationship dominantly controls participation form of local community of Bandung City.
