Abstract | Vietnam is the developing country which has a huge demand to develop the infrastructure and residential construction. In the other hand, the urbanization rate is quite high; the demand for civil projects is around 6.7%. Meanwhile, Asian Economic Community (AEC) will go into effective in end of 2015 and TPP (Trans- Pacific Partnership) will be effective in 2018; it will bring more opportunity for Vietnam to boost up the economy by attracting more investors in many fields especially real estates. Therefore, the plastic pipe business will increase significantly in the coming years. The study is to learn about market demand of PE Pipe and the market trend in using HDPE pipe in the construction and civil projects and water supply which will consume the big volume of HDPE pipe in the coming years. The result of this study will support for the final decision whether SCG Chemicals should invest on the production lines of PE pipe resin in the local project in Vung Tau province, Vietnam in the next year 2016. The research proceeded in face to face interview with the local pipe manufacturers who have insight information in the market trend. In the other hand, I collected the data of PE Pipe resin import under Harmonized System code 39012000 to see the historical growth in recent years. From the data, I analyzed the market growth and the trend of PE Pipe and I evaluated the feasibility of the plan to invest on the plant to produce PE Pipe resin in the local Petrochemical plant in Vung Tau province, Vietnam. |
