AbstractSea transportation is the most important mode of transportation for international and domestic trade in East Java province. In recent years, the port capacity did not keep pace with increased trade volumes. This research studies about container port capacity to meet future container demand in East Java province with focus in the manufacturing industry development. Using system dynamic approach, a container port model would be constructed to capture the dynamic, the feedback relationship, uncertainty and complex factors in the container port. The model is tested using three scenarios which include new port construction scenario, revitalization of Surabaya West Access Channel (SWAC) scenario, and combination scenario. The result showed that the government should implement the new port project and revitalize the SWAC in the period 2014 in order to meet future container port demand in East Java province.
