AbstractThe fourth generation of mobile system is the future of wireless communications. The first network should be deployed in 2011, and it seems interesting to know how to make the transition from existing infrastructures to 4G. Operators have the choice between different technologies which have different characteristics. Having a good understanding of this statement needs a relevant example. The case of France is particularly adapted because French government and operators are trying to find solutions to set up a broadband mobile system in the entire country. Consequently, we will study the candidate technologies, the bandwidth allocation and some strategies to maximize revenues for operators. As a result, we submit recommendations to those stakeholders in order to help them deploying 4G networks.
