AbstractThe finance department is a very important part for the success of any company. The effective performance of the finance department can ensure optimization of resources to bring the best interests for the company’s stakeholders. The finance department is a unique department with respect to the company’s perspective and the available information. The performance of the finance department very affects to company’s critical decision. However, the finance team of Vietnam Shoe Majesty hasn’t yet performed all its roles effectively, even put company in risk of noncompliance with tax, legal, regulatory. So improving performance and capability of finance team is one of top priorities of the company. The purpose of this study is to identify current situation of the finance team and analyze the reasons causing ineffectiveness. To find relevant data for research, interviews with five senior leaders in relevant professionals and key persons, a survey and evaluation of skills with 16 employees of the finance department were taken. Through the data analysis, the research found out that the problems do not come from the capability of the finance department itself. These are the organizational and the human resource system problems. Recommendations are suggested to improve performance and capability of the finance team to enhance the finance department’s performance.
