Abstract | The towing operations at VTB over 30 years have had many achievements, playing an important role in Vietsovpetro’s operations. However, with the company development, legal requirements and changes in business environment, the towing operations have to adapt. The main purpose of the research is to offer solutions improving the management of towing operations at VTB in terms of safety and cost-efficiency through the five important factors: (1) Legal requirements, (2) Design of towing arrangement, (3) Calculation of towing forces, (4) Technical control of towed objects and towing boats, and (5) Captain advisors. For conducting this research, I have applied the integrated knowledge gained from the iEMBA program, used Causal Impact Analysis method, the collected data, my experiences and "Kotter's eight-step plan" to offer and deploy improvement solutions for the management of towing operation at VTB. The research results are briefly summarized: - Systematizing and applying the relevant legal documents; - Making efficient design of towing arrangements for typical situations; - Applying the most appropriate formulas for calculation of towing forces; - Applying a Safety Management System for technical control of towage means; - Enhancing the capability of the captain advisors by internal and external training, information and experience sharing. |
