AbstractOver 20 years of renovation, the Vietnam’s economy has developed strongly. Along with it, the cement industry has developed quickly. However, the impact of world recession in 2008 had a major impact on Vietnam's economy as well as the cement industry due to rising input costs, economic growth declines, and supply over demand; reduced investment in public has created a fierce competition between cement producers. Therefore, there is a need for strategies to improve competitiveness of cement producers, particularly state-owned cements producers with lower performance compare to the joint-venture and private producers. For continuous development, VicemButSon has built the company’s strategies to adapt with new context of economic situation and production is considered as one of the important resources for achieving its objectives. The research analyzes the weakness of VicemButSon in low performance of production and finds main causes for the problem of its production line. The research then gives solutions that VicemButSon applied in production line to improve the performance of production. The research also provides some recommendations to address the critical production issues, thereby improving the effectiveness of production line of VicemButSon.
