AbstractAfter 30 years of being as leading oil and gas exploitation company in Vietnam, Vietsovpetro now is facing decline cycle with annual oil input gradually decreases. And now, one of the strategies of Vietsovpetro is reducing total production costs in general and logistics costs in particular . In this research, the author - as a Deputy Manager of Materials Supply and Logistics Department of oil and gas production division, Vietsovpetro - focus on improving performance of inventory and transportation management to reduce inventory and transportation costs by some solutions. The research has analyzed the company’s surrounding business environment in inventory and transportation activities. These analyses will enable the company to determine the opportunities of improving inventory and transportation management to reduce costs. The author has analyzed the data of inventory recordings, loading manifests of shipments, inland transportation recordings in the last 3 years to find out reasons for inefficiency of inventory and transportation management. The author also conducted an interview with the managers of platforms (FSO, Jack-up rigs) to identify in a specific way of storages –offshore storing. At the end of this research, some solutions and recommendations for improving inventory and transportation performances in Vietsovpetro condition and its plan and strategy will be concluded based on the analyses and interview.
