Abstract | Business is not a lottery ticket. Performance of business depends on the decisions taken based on the analysis of collected information. Companies are giving huge effort and investing a lot of money on their business intelligence to collect information about their competitors, suppliers and customers. Current business environment is mature enough and collaboration of information technology helps the companies to make a good decision rather than rough estimation. Supply Chain is one of the area which use most advanced software to analyze business environment and make crucial decision related to sourcing, production and distribution of a company. The scientific way of making decisions is the success factor of renowned companies. This study focuses on the linkages of the supply chain which includes three major stakeholders (customer, supplier, internal process) of business. Another objective of this study is to explore critical factors under each linkage for improvement of supply chain performance. This research is conducted in a South Asian developing country. Findings of this study show internal process is the key success factor for companies operating there. It seems companies in that area want to fulfill customer needs in a cost effective and responsive way by improving their internal linkages. On the other hand, they emphasized in supplier linkage, which is also important for building an optimized and responsive supply chain. Though the companies identified internal linkage and supplier linkage as most critical, impact of customer linkage can’t be ignored. After all goal of improving those linkages is to fulfill needs of customer in more responsive and cost effective way. Companies operating in South Asian region, to be more specific, in Bangladesh may utilize findings of this research to formulate their supply chain strategy. |
