AbstractGroundwater vulnerability mapping is considered as a fundamental aspect for the sustainable groundwater management especially in the tropical area like Thailand, where more than 30 percent of the total population relay on groundwater for various purposes. This study is designed to evaluate and assess the spatial distribution of various chemical constituents as Total Nitrogen, Ammonium, Dissolved Oxygen, Chloride and Hardness in the groundwater due to flooding and prepare the groundwater vulnerability map for all above constituents exceeding some standard values. This study initiates with the data collection from the field survey, face to face interviews and other secondary sources as GISTDA and DGR. The various chemical constituents of 67 groundwater samples collected from the field and 33 registered wells are analyzed using multivariate statistical technique. The flood frequency map of the study area is also prepared based on the historic flood extend data from 1983 to 2011. From the analysis and past experience of the farmers, it is observed that about 96 percent of the groundwater wells are prone to flood. It is observed that wells which are abandoned and without proper capping has higher concentration of nitrate and ammonium. Thus, Factor analysis for identifying the inter related components for dependent and independent variable related to groundwater quality is performed and identified the best set of components. According to these identified set of components, Logistic regression model is developed for 5 different constituents. The probability equation is obtained for all these constituents exceeding some standard values. This is further used to develop the vulnerability map of the groundwater quality constituents for various cases.
