| Abstract | Established in July 2008, accordingly to the government of Vietnam’s education socialization policy, the European-Vietnamese (EV) school was considered the first international school in the province of Binh Duong with support and encouragement from local authorities and people. Therefore, at the beginning, to reply to those support, the BOD of the school promised to build up a qualified school with Total Quality Management. However, the school has been facing a lot of difficulties, especially the challenging problem in recruiting qualified teachers and staff to meet the quality policy of the school. With very little experience in running a school, the BOD also had problems in setting up a competitive structure, management system and human resource management to keep key positions and to attract more excellent candidates. This case research aims to help the school orient and make a proper strategy, to foresee problems and to come up with suggested solutions.
As EV is a new school, without outcomes, it is difficult to evaluate whether it has quality or not. However, in order to find out problems that may affect the performance of teachers and staff, interviews, and observations are used inside the school. Comparing with its competitors and with the quality policy set by the school is also an important way to make the case research more valid and reliable.
Shortcomings are inevitable in this case research due to lack of sources, real experience and time. However, based on the problem analysis, the case research includes some solutions and recommendations that can be applied in the school and academic department to have a more competitive human resource management system. |
