Abstract | A study in the yearly Management Review has shown the company did not achieve the strategic objectives such as the market share, the accelerate sales growth, the return-on-sales, ratio of operational efficiency, timing of machine breakdown, non-conformity products, loss of raw material and staff turnover rate. Questions were raised by directors and senior managers whether the current training program has provided the qualified courses for all staff to equip enough competencies. This study was conducted to analyze the current training activities to find out the root causes and propose the solutions to enhance the training activities to meet the company’s staff development strategy. Training & Development department has conducted a Training Effectiveness Survey for about 96 managers and 120 key staff. They were requested to fill in the survey form in order to give their comment and feedback on what are they evaluating the current training program and proposing anything they want to improve. Based on their comments and suggestions, Training & Development department organize several group discussions to brainstorm what and why the current training situation happened, and how to improve. They have applied the brainstorming method to write out all things, use cause and effect method to have the deep insight of anything and discuss detailed about the impact of this thing towards the current training program, apply cost and benefit method to consider what solutions are best for this study. There are 4 solutions were proposed to enhance the current training activities they are the establishment of Competencies Dictionary to equalize different perceptions in order to achieve productive communications and business objectives, the preparation of Academy Program to offer staff a comprehensive and structured training program, the update and revision of training policy, procedure and work instruction, and building the training need analysis procedure. Analyzing the current training situation helps the company realize the key issues to enhance the training activities in order to provide the appropriate training courses with high quality for all staff. |
