Abstract | This research studied about design and test bomb shield for military applications. The numerical models were used to determine shape and thickness in each layer of bomb shield by using transient elastic analysis. Normally reflected blast parameters for TNT chart was used to calculate blast pressure and time duration. The specimen was considered fail when its strain was over the yield strain. The numerical models of cantilever beam were verified with the exact solution and the numerical models of bomb basket were compared the results with numerical model and experimental result from the previous work. Each layer of bomb shield was separately modeled and then superimposed to determine the total designed blast load resistance. The test results showed that bomb shield which double layer of steel grade DILLIDUR 400V or RAEX 400, 6mm thickness and V-shape at the front layer can be designed by using numerical model based on transient load analysis and linear properties of material to resist blast load 20.0-lb TNT explosive which is concealed 50cm underground and can be applied to install beneath the military or other vehicles that still can be movable. |
