Abstract | Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a widely used technique in multicarrier transmissions. The process of subcarrier signal generation makes it suitable for implementation on digital devices. This research study aims generating OFDM signals through simulations under the MathWorks environment. Two transmission techniques related to Visible Light Communication (VLC), namely DC-OFDM and ACO-OFDM are then considered and simulated. Then, a final DC-OFDM transmitter is modeled under DSP Builder, a high level design software, which can ensure the conversion of the model in Hardware Decription Language (HDL). The DC-OFDM model is finally implemented on a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and tested as a part of a VLC transmission system, which includes digital to analog conversion and intensity modulation on Light-emitting diodes (LEDs). |
