AbstractGreen cities has become one of the factor that all urban planner are seeking through it. Due to continuous growth in urban and development of industries as a consequence to reduce in quality of live and loss in Greenland in urban area. The situation can be even worse in some parts like Delhi, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, etc. Moreover, urbanization, resulting conversion of pervious land into impervious land makes situation more badly. In the recent year, the greater Visakhapatnam municipal cooperation also writhed from such consequences of urbanization. Mitigation and management of consequences of urbanization can be effective if it is implementing converting barren land to green land and find urban changes. Thus finding suitable sites for conversion and urban changes are crucial in and urban changes successful terms of planning suitable sites in particular area. Therefore, this study was utilized to develop a comprehensive change detection for 20 years together with urban prediction for 2030 and 2050 year and Suitable green area map in Visakhapatnam with the aid of Gis technology. The supervised classification is done for 20 years 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015. For IDRISI 30m spatial resolution DEM data is taken from USGS. The change maps are produced they are imported to ArcMap for further process like total area calculation and Map preparation . Distance from urban, Distance to waterbodies, Barren land, vegetation land, Building density, and geographic information system (AHP) with pair - wise comparison are integrated to predict the suitability of green land in Visakhapatnam . The generation o f suitability map for converting barren land to greenery. Urban prediction is done from 2030 and 2050 years. Different data layers are assigned weights according to their level of contribution to the occurrence of suitability land using AHP. The result shows that the places which are highly suitable green areas and suitable barren land can be converted to green land. There is no barren land present in central of urban area. The most suitable areas to convert into green land is present in the outskirts.
