Abstract | The solar flares emitted by the sum are capable of causing disturbances in the earth’s magnetosphere and ionosphere. The Total Electron Content in the ionosphere increases when solar flares from the sun strike the earth’s magnetosphere. This causes a delay in GPS signal transmission, which is responsible for positioning errors. The damage done to the earth’s ionosphere by these flares is dependent on the intensity of flare. TEC can be measured using GPS stations. Three GPS stations over Thailand are used to obtain ionospheric parameters. The variation in values of TEC at each of these stations needs to be studied to understand how the ionospheri c parameter is dependent on latitude region. The correlation between the International Reference Ionosphere (IRI) and station data allows validation of station data. IRI data is further used to justify usage of station data. Interpolation techniques all ow generation of TEC maps over the entire country using three stations. The accuracy of interpolation will depend on the number of stations available for interpolation. Visual interpretation of TEC in the ionosphere is possible through the generation of maps. |
