AbstractConstruction industry is an essential industry to develop the country in terms of improving quality of life, infrastructure and so on. Moreover, it is also an attractive business that can pursue the people to enter. Success in construction business is much difficult than any other industry due to difficulty in managing several parties and complexity of work behavior. In developing countries as Myanmar, construction business is more risky and complex. Poor performance is quite famous in local construction projects. To enter into the construction business, the entrepreneurs must investigate in terms of risk management practice. The research mainly focuses on the identification of important risk factors that are suffering in medium construction companies and impact on performance of the organization under the core operation process concerning marketing, financing, administration, engineering, and procurement operation functions and processes. This research also emphasized on the risk management practice in terms of solutions that proposed for contingency plan. The research conducted under the qualitative case study approach with case wise analysis and cross case analysis in terms of risk management in core operational process for medium construction companies of Myanmar. The research has been carried out through open interview with managing directors and directors of the six medium construction companies in Myanmar. The nine major important risk factors are found out from the cross-case analysis. Important risks relating with marketing are (1) Weak in relationship with customers, (2) Market loss or market situation change in industry crisis period. Risks related with financing found out (3) Delay progress payment from client, (4) Insufficient cash flow management. Administration risks are (5) Unskillful or unqualified employees, (6) Insufficient contract management skill. (7) Unqualified subcontractor is the major risk for engineering, (8) Market price fluctuation and (9) Material shortage and delay delivery found as the procurement risks. The possible solutions concerning with risk factors have been found from the current risk management contingency plan by company top management.
