AbstractDevelopment under climate change is the new challenge that most of the countries are facing at the current development agend a. While most of people perceive climate change as an issue, it also provides new opportunity for development with limited resource. Globally, history record data has already illustrated that the climate of the earth is chan g ing due to both natural phenome na and human activities in which the last one is the major concern that we need to address. To deal with climate change, it is important to understand the impa cts, adaptation and mitigation. Various stud ies and articles demonstrate that the impact of clima te change have already been felt by people at all level on various sectors. Apparently, climate change also affected agriculture which also leads to issue of food security in Cambodia . Some othe r studies also conclude that t he poor farmers are the most vul nerable group to climate change. Therefore, t hi s study is conducted aiming at seeking what is the current perception of farmers on climate change, the impact on their agriculture production, their individual and local adaptation based on the current climat e pattern and what have been by the government and local Non - Governmental Organization on the issue . In two villages of Kampong Speuprovince, 71 farmers were selected for surveyed questionnaire . Participants who are not scientifically accurate in the surv ey and interview d isplayed high level of engagement with and the understanding of their local environment and climate. The survey analysis indicates that most of the farmer in rural area already perceived climate change in their own local community and cli mate change also affect their rice practice and production. Several local - level adaptation strategies have been taken by farmers in the study ar ea and according to farmers, the effectiveness of their individual adaptive strategies such as change in cultiva tion practice is considered low due to shifting climate pattern .Farmers show preference toward cooperative adaptation strategies however due to their limited financial resource and technical knowledge; they are unable to implement them.
