AbstractCoastal zone is the area which interacts between land and sea. It includes various kinds of ecosystems and huge source of significant natural resources. Nowadays it is observed that this area has been changed by various kind of coastal process such as wind, wave, tides and currents as well as human activities. From last few decades’ sedimentation, erosion and land use changes are the major problems found in coastal zone. Due to topographic uncertainties it’s very hard to predict the changes manually in coastal zone. The observations of these kinds of regions from satellite are overcome this situation. The application of satellite remote sensing for mapping coastal land use change and bathymetry changes are rapidly revolving area of scientific research and which is very helpful to understand the long term changes in coastal zone. In this research, SPOT 1, 2 satellite data is used for monitoring change detection in Pak Phanang Bay, Thailand coastal zone. For bathymetry mapping and water turbidity analysis multiple regression analysis and water quality empirical model is used with reflectance of satellite image and in-situ observations. Good correlation is observed between SPOT image reflectance and in-situ observations. The combination of remote sensing within-situ observations has capability to detect water depth, turbidity and water clarity.
