AbstractAviation is one of the most important transportation modes in Nepal because of its mountainous topography. However, the operation of aircrafts is often interrupted by bad weather such as low cloud, low visibility, and high wind speed. It has been reported that many scheduled air flights could not reach to the destination because of bad weather conditions, and they have to return back. No doubt, these interrupted flight result in issues such as wasted of time loss, more fuel consumption, more CO2 emission and higher of cost flights . This work introduces Sensor Network application to address this issue by providing real time air route monitoring system. Field server is used to observe and measure air route information along the flight route. The objective here is to study the implementation of application using sensor network. In case of aviation, air route condition plays an important to support decision. Thus, Nepal Air Route web application is implemented to know the real time air route information supported by friendly user web interface. Internet connectivity is obtained by “Nepal Wireless” which is an organization who has been developing WiFi Wireless Network around Phokara, and they provide internet connectivity to the test node. Real tine air route information is gathered and then sent through Sensor Service Grid (SSG) to Internet Server in Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok.
