Abstract | The research studied impact of agricultural credit on use of input and cassava production. Main objectives of the research are to study credit institution providing loan to the farmer and following to the need of farmer particular cassava farmers. Also to find out the credit gap, the use of credit for agricultural purpose and non - agricultural purpose. The research was conducted in Phnom Proek di strict of Battambang province using a survey questionnaire as prime data collection tool with a total of 80 sampled households. Checklists were used for key informant interview and group discussion. The research is quantitative approach with substantial support of qualitative approach. This study was determined farmer in three groups, small, medium and large farmer according to their landholding size. This findings of the study revealed that ACLEDA bank was only bank that provide loan to farmer in study area. While amount of credit was limited, farmers could not meet their credit demand. However, small farmer had serious gap of credit among three types of farmer. Amount of credit received was use for both purposes, agricultural and non - agricultural. Nevertheless, this study found medium farmer used amount of credit for non - agricultural activities with huge amount compare to other type of farmers. Small farmers used credit for cassava production more than medium and large farmers. Following to use of inputs, farmers was improved their farm input for cassava cultivation. Beside to increased input used, cassava production was also increased while the price of production was decreased. At the same time, income of cassava production was also increased particular s mall farmer. Based on the finding of this study, recommendations have been made to improve the effective use and credit delivery for farmer to enhance cassava production |
