Abstract | Mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a kind of network consisting of mobile or fixed wireless devices communicate among without any centralized infrastructure. Mobile nodes act co-operatively among each other to relay packet within the network. Because of highly dynamic nature of MANET there are some challenges that needed to be considered before deploying it in real time application scenarios. Nodes are allowed to move freely with in the application area; so, network topology changes in no time. Routing protocols should be well aware of such frequent changes and disseminate proper information timely to continue communication smoothly. It is well known fact that MANET can be the best option in developing seamless communication in various application scenarios. People gathering for ad hoc meeting, conferences, exhibition, and campus area are some examples. Before deploying MANET in such application areas, it is imperative to understand possible performances. Simulation is the best option to do performance evaluation before real time implementation. Mobility model which represent considered application scenario should incorporate all the important features that may change mobility characteristic of mobile nodes. We have proposed new mobility model which is useful in some application areas: exhibition, conference, park, city section. Realistic characteristic, attraction point has been included in proposed mobility model. In real time scenarios, mobile nodes used to move along predefined paths toward their destination. University area, park, exhibition area consists of predefined paths to move. Attraction points are some important spots with in application area where mobile nodes are interested to visit. Impact of attraction point in mobility characteristic of mobile node has been observed. AODV routing protocol is implemented to observe the impact of proposed mobility model with models already been proposed. Important performance factors: packet delivery ratio and average end-to-end delay are used and observed impact of proposed mobility model. |
