| Abstract | This study analyzed and comparedthe calculated uplift resistance values of footingsof power transmission towers using analytical formula proposed by various researchersand the solution given by a 3-dimensional finite element analysis. The constructionof new power transmission lines in rugged terrains has increased considerably in recent years to considerabledevelopment of newpower generating projects inneighbor country of Thailand.. A well-known civil engineering softwarenamely ABAQUS was adopted in this study. The linear-elastic plastic Mohr Coulomb model was considered. Both horizontal ground and sloping ground consideration were included in this study. Keywords:transmission line towers foundation, uplift resistanceof transmission line tower, uplift resistance in sloping ground, uplift resistance in hilly terrains, uplift resistance in saturated soil, uplift resistanceincohesive soil, uplift resistance in cohesionless soil. |
