AbstractGlobalization is fast integrating the world into one global community through trade, FDI flow, mobility of capital and human resources across the borders. Brazil, Russia, India, and China (BRICs) with a large population and abundant natural resources have become the fast growing economies as beneficiaries of globalization. As the four economies are predicted to lead the global economy in the future, the BRICs economies have recently captured the substantial attention of nations around the world. Korea, as one of the fast growing economies, is highly dependant of the global economy. Korea has currently made great efforts to be linked to the global economy through bilateral and multilateral economic cooperation for growth opportunities. Among the BRICs, China has already become Korea’s largest economic partner in trade and foreign investment. Brazil, Russia, and India are newly emerging as global economic partners for Korea. Accordingly, for growth opportunities through the enhancement of Korea’s globalization, this research is to provide a chance to understand the BRICs economies better. Recent macro-economic environments on the BRICs are examined to draw fundamental characteristics in each of the BRICs economies. Through the economic relationship between Korea and each of the BRICs in terms of trade and foreign investment, the research analyzes some industry sectors that Korea could play complementary role to the BRICs along with some recommendations for further economic cooperation in the future.
