Abstract | At present, the business intelligence system has an important role in several businesses such as retail industry, manufacturing industry, finance and securities, etc. which enhance procedures or implement strategies for sustainable competitive advantage. With the potential of business intelligence system, this study develops a system to support the Thai bond market for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). SEC is in charge of controlling, supervising this market by implementing or revising policies, regulations or roles for encouraging investors to invest for the economic growth. Generally, the Thai bond market has three aspects: 1) the size and product aspect which is related the investment volume in three types of bonds which include government bonds, corporate bonds, and foreign bonds. 2) the liquidity aspect which is related the return of interest rate and trading summary, and 3) the participants aspect which is related the amount of issuers, underwriter, dealers, holders and investors. In this study, the business intelligence system focuses only the market size domain. For implementing the system, it has three components 1) data warehouse 2) multidimensional modeling (cube) and 3) data representation. Firstly, the data warehouse is built from ETL (Extraction, Transformation, and Load) process with XML format in order to reduce redundant data. Secondly, this study constructs the multidimensional modeling in order to separate data into five dimensions and three measures. Finally, this research represents the data into statistics and graph that users are able to understand with ease. Additionally, users are able to select both dimension and measure for finding information in depth. Furthermore, users’ feedback is this research obtains from the real users at SEC. The feedback is quite positive because they like the system a lot with the simple user interface, various charts, and the functionality. Moreover, the users also suggest some issues for improving the system further such as authorization and authentication. |
