| Abstract | This research study focuses on an optimization procedure to solve the routing problem in a wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) mesh network that can recover from a single link failure. The failure recovery scheme consider ed is shared link protection using p- cycle protection . The network topology considered is assumed based on the topology of the Government Telecommunication Project Agency (GTPA) network, Laos. Dynamic traffic is considered, where lightpath request s arrive as a Poisson process while each lightpath holding time is exponentially distributed. The network performance is measured in term s of the lightpath blocking probability. Comparison is made between networks with and without protection for various val ues of link capacities. |
