Abstract | The university consists of population of students, teachers and staff; the university needs the centralized directory to standard access for application and to simplify the finding of individual and public information inside and outside of campus network. Therefore, the Centralized User Account Management (CUAM) is one of the basic principles of managing user account, user information, computer network and servers. Typically, there is only one source of information about users (students, staff, external staff, teachers, and etc) in the university. In this research study is focusing on designing, implementing and monitoring the university directory server or university centralized information system for the National University of Laos (NUOL). The implementation and configuration are based on free open source software (FOSS) or non-commercial technologies in order to implement very reliable solution which could bring benefits in terms of high availability, sufficient speed and reduction in time for extending this solution to other parts of all faculties as well as for whole university. At the end of this research study, the implementation and configuration part that is based on the design part, as it will deploy the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server and discusses problems and makes some conclusions about selected technology |
