Abstract | Patni Inc. is the 6th largest Information Technology Company in India (based on revenues). The objective of the study is to design a new software testing tool for Patni Inc. to market its software testing department. This involves knowing the customer needs statement, and understanding of the existing strategy implemented by the company. According to the company, the tool must be easy of demonstrate to the customers and it must reduce the operation time. In order to develop such a tool, company analysis and competitor analysis is done. This analysis did not reveal the point of difference with the competitors as everyone was doing the same things. But the competitor analysis revealed what is not to be done. The results opened up the scope for Patni Inc. to come up with something different from others. Questionnaires were used to understand what customers need and what employees think about the existing testing process. The tool was identified from the freely downloadable internet sources such as www.download.com which offered a feasible solution to the following customer needs: The tool must be able to communicate effectively between developers and testers. The tool must improve accountability between developers and testers. The tool must bring down the operation time. The results of the study have thorough analysis of benefits of the testing tool to Patni Inc. According to the managers of the company, the results of the study have added value to the testing process. The testing tool has helped the marketing team to pitch in to the customers about the process advantage of Patni Inc. over others. This report elaborates the value addition of the proposed tool and the existing strategies that are followed by Patni Inc. |
