Abstract | Myanmar, developing country, has been relatively slow compared with the industrial and manufacturing and constructing sectors. Buil d - Operate - Transfer (BOT) scheme is now becoming one of the prevailing ways for infrastructure development in Myanmar to meet the needs of future economic growth and development. There are many opportunities for foreign investors. However, there are many ri sks and problems that are due mainly to differences in legal systems, market conditions and culture. It is important for foreign investors to identify and manage the critical risks deals with investments in Myanmar’s BOT infrastructure projects. Based o n the survey, the following critical risks are identified: delay in approval, change in law, cost overrun, dispatch constraint, land acquisition and compensation, enforceability of contracts, construction schedule, financial closing, tariff adjustment, and environmental risk. Each of these risks is mitigated by suitable way. Finally, a risk management framework for BOT projects is developed. Main purpose of this paper is to investigate many kinds of risks concerned with Build Operate Transfer projects in Myanmar. |
