AbstractIn Myanmar highway construction projects the proper and systematic risk management planning, implementation and management is not concrete yet. Since the country has opened up, there will be gigantic steps to improve the network of roads within the country as well as with neighbor countries. Many big projects on highway constructions were carried out with huge expense and severe environmental and social impacts, hence there is a need to take into account of risk management process in these projects. In this regards, this study on “ Risk Management of Highway Construction Project in Myanmar: a case study of Maei - KyaukPhyu road construction project”, has conducted. In this study, the potential risks, the risks occurred and risk management of the Maei - KyaukPhy u road construction project were analyzed. Moreover, possible risk management frame work and risk response and solution for risk management of this project was also discussed in this study. According to this study, Maei - KyaukPhyu road construction project had high project risks and construction risks. In term of risk management, the risk level was reduced but those risks had not been addressed systematically. The project team and owner had responded them at their best in the given situation. This is import ant to have support and enforcement from ministry level to set advocacy on systematic risk management in the construction industry
