AbstractVietnam is one of countries, which focus on the development of traditional agriculture. Thus, Vietnamese Government has been investing the irrigation systems across the country to support water for several hundred hectares of agricultural land. However, most of irrigation projects is delivered behind the approved schedule plan. As a result, the huge land areas are not supplied sufficient water for cultivation, and of course this affects negatively to the development of agriculture in Vietnam. With this regards, this report studies the delay of the irrigation project in Vietnam in order to find out key factors affecting to project delay. To do this, this report would investigate and analyse a case study entitled LongPhuocApumping station atBen Cau district, Tay Ninh province, Vietnam. This project is to supply water for irrigation of1,000 hectares of agricultural.The objectives of study is to determine the major factors affecting delay in a real public irrigation project. After that, author recommends the solutions to effectively prevent the project delay. A preliminarily subjective assessment was conducted in order to assess the applicability of recommendations in practice. The interim results revealed that solutions suggested by author prove the potential to proactively prevent delay for project in practice.
