Abstract | Under the public reform program, the Royal Thai Government aims to achieve maximum value from construction project investments. This especially holds for the Thailand's Ministry of Defence (MOD) in which the socio-economic value can be a value added to national security. Therefore, the objective of this study is to explore and gain an in-depth understanding of the factors influencing three stages of the construction project selection process in MOD namely, conceptual stage, design stage, and final approval stage. In order to achieve this, data related to factors influencing construction project selection in MOD was collected through survey design and case study approaches. The obtained result herein by using Friedman Two Way ANOVA shows that twenty five out of thirty two factors influencing project selection in the three stages are significantly different. Moreover, the identification of key factors by using factor analysis shows that there are seven, six and seven key factors influencing project selection in the conceptual stage, design stage, and final approval stage respectively. Finally, the case study is used to verify the key factors. By using the in-depth understanding of these factors, recommendations are conducted for improving the processes and criteria of construction project selection in MOD. |
