Abstract | Irrigation efficiency is a broad term which can be applied to irrigation practices in qualitative manner. The objective of the overall efficiency concept is to show where improvement can made which will result in more efficient irrigation. Performance is the measure of effectiveness, the means provided and measures undertaken in the project with respect to achievement of the physical objectives. Evaluation is a retrospective review or a review of something ongoing. Performance can be evaluated on both engineering and economic viewpoint. Irrigation system may or may not be well design and properly used. For determining the potential for more economical and efficient operation, the performance evaluation of the system is necessary to provide direction to management in deciding whether to continue existing practices or improve them. In the design and planning of an irrigation systems the efficiencies of water utilization in application, conveyance and distribution systems are essential, particularly for calculating irrigation water requirement. Performance of the project not only depends on technical matters but also on a lot of social factors. Farmers relation on irrigation management has become vital. Farmers organizations related with the irrigation management, play important roles in better performing irrigation systems. Water distribution is clearly of central importance in any irrigation project which depends on the operation, maintenance, irrigation assistance to farmers, finance and administration. Different kinds of mathematical and statistical tools such quantitative theory can be used for evaluation of project performance |
